Tapering = Time Off

Well my taper week hasn't gone as well as planned. I haven't gotten a session in since Monday morning. It's been a rough week. I've been working late every night, didn't leave the office till 10pm last night, and at the same time fighting off this same 'super germ' that I had for all of January. The cold and cough thing is really starting to get old. Luckily, it appears that the super germ this time around isn't as super as the previous culprit. (See, it ain't so bad.)
Hopefully I'll get home at a decent hour tonight and be able to get a good night's sleep. Depending on that we'll see if I get a session in tomorrow morning. Otherwise it'll have to wait until the weekend.
On a good note, I did receive my copy of Resilient yesterday. So I am excited to give that a watching.
Also remember to watch Fight Quest on the Discovery Channel tomorrow night. This week's episode explores the devastating art of kajukembo!! For those of you who are not aware, Fight Quest on Discovery is the older, badder brother to History Channel's Human Weapon series. Both are similar to the closest detail, but Fight Quest is just a bit more hard core. Sweet!

I got my copy of Resilient on Friday and really like it. I've done the complete circuit of drills twice now and can see the validity of its use in both pre and re-hab. Given my history of shoulder and elbow issues, this DVD is a great investment.

Oh, on a whim I today did 16kg snatches and they felt really easy on my elbows. I think its due to all the swinging I've been doing ... I really focused on a strong hip snap for each rep. In another few week I going to start experimenting with sets of low reps (2 or 3 each arm) with the 24kg and monitor my elbows carefully.

The RKC cert snatch requirement seems to be of mutant proportions (including your current PR of 17/17) to me right now but I now know how to train correctly for it ... slowly and carefully!

Thanks Franklin and TOSP. Am starting to come through this cold thing better this time around than last. Not working out yes, but working late all week probably didn't help.

Franklin, glad to hear the snatches felt good. I noticed something today during my swings that might affect the elbows. I wrote it in today's post and you might be interested. I still have to get threw the Resilient DVD but can see it will be helpful.

And I can't say it enough, I am confident that lots of swings will make the snatches easy come RKC Cert time.

Franklin, Howz about getting yourself a blog?

Howie, is that a photo of a virus? Nicely done.

I finally summoned enough courage to put my training ramblings out in cyberspace with on my own blog:

I would have never even considered it if it weren't for this amazing blog ... thanks Howie!
