I had decided that I would taper back a bit this week to give my body a chance to rest and recuperate. At the same time I was itching to Swing my new 32kg bell. So I took a look at the total volume of Swings that I performed last Wednesday (weight x total reps) and multiplied by 70% to come up with a target volume for today. So even though the weight of the kb went up, total volume is reduced. Now I realize that there is probably some non-linearity involved with a new weight being introduced, but close enough! So after all of the graduate school mathematics was over, here's my reduced intensity session for the day...
2-Hand Swings: 16kg - 30
Halos: 16kg - 4/4
Figure 8 to Hold: 16kg - 4/4
2-Hand Swings: 32kg - 10 for 5 sets
And yes, overall at the end of it, it does feel like a lighter workout!
As a follow-up from yesterday's Overhead KB Walks, shoulders felt fine today, lower back was just a little tight upon waking my felt fine after warming up. Will try next time with the 24kg.

You don't have to compete with weights on over head walk. Shoulder relaxed and let the rhomboid peel off from your back, you know what I mean.
Nice Christmas gifts! It's great that your 32 doesn't feel so heavy quite yet. Try some one-hand swings when the time comes and keep pounding them. They'll make the 24 feel light for snatches, and you'll do more snatches.
now you got it howie. excellent.and doesnt that 32kg feel great? way to go man.
Thanks guys. And yes, the 32kg feel great. Like I said, I am surprised how it feels. I think the transition from the 16kg to the 24kg was more 'shocking' thank this. But then again, I haven't done any 1-hand swings yet either. Definitely will start with some real sets next week as I ramp things back up.
