Lotsa Jerks today.
For some reason, unconsciously, I skipped over my Z-Health warm up, and went right into some 16kg Swings.
1-Arm Jerk: 16kg - 2 minutes (16L/16R)
1-Arm Jerk: 16kg - 2 minutes (16L/16R)
1-Arm Jerk: 16kg - 2 minutes (16L/16R)
Took an untimed break and then proceeded with a few more heavier ones...
1-Arm Jerk: 24kg - 2 minutes (12L/12R)
1-Arm Jerk: 32kg - 3L/3R
And that was it for today!

Treat Z before practice sessions like brushing your teeth before going to bed. When it becomes habit you won't forget it anymore. Its not a lot of fun for sure but the payoff is huge.
And nice job on the jerks.
Well done on the jerks Howie. Your numbers on the 24 are looking really good. BTW, are you intending on taking the Cotter Extreme Athletic challenge during the CKT seminar?
Extreme Challenge? That would be a negative! I'm not looking to incur any injuries next weekend. But maybe next year...
I missed your 3/3 with the 32kg .. thats VERY impressive! Further proof of the effectiveness of the Fitness Protocol for building great strength.
After the TSC and when I feel my right knee is up to it, I will go back to timed LCCJ sets with my 24kg. I still have unfinished business to work on my long term goal of 100 in 10 minutes with one hand switch.
It looks like I will be able to attend your KB party in Aug as my family get-together has been pushed out a week.
Awesome news Franklin! Glad you'll be able to attend.
The way I see it, I should be able to move up to the 20kg bell sometime in the Fall. 24kg most likely in the Spring. 28kg next Fall and by Spring of 2010 I should be working with the 32kg for time.
How's that for long term planning?
Yup, I think I'm in agreement with you regarding the Extreme Challenge. I still have about 3 months to prep so maybe I will be able to give it a shot but given the fact that I can only do 4 32kg jerks at the moment it seems rather unlikely. Good stuff with the long term planning. In my line of work we refer to that as "strategic thinking." Dude, you should be the CEO of a major corporate.
My take on the Extreme Challenge is that training for it may not be consistent with long term GS competition goals and with the safe and sure methods of the Fitness Protocol. I would be careful ..
